Skip the Shake launches the New Wristband to Help People to Stop Shaking Hands and to Help Reduce the Frequency of Illness
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. - November 14, 2009 – Skip the Shake, LLC. (www.skiptheshake.com), a maker of silicone wristbands, introduced today an inexpensive silicone wristband with the slogans “Skip the Shake” and “Fight the Flu” on it to help its wearers politely and effectively stop shaking hands. By stopping shaking hands, the wristband wearers may cut down on the frequency of illness due to communicable diseases.
“We found that many people wanted to stop shaking hands in the light of H1N1 flu pandemic, but they did not have a pleasant, positive method to indicate that they would rather not shake hands. Hand shaking is a social norm in the Western World. But along with the greeting comes intimate exposure to communicable diseases,” said John Foster, the General Manager of Skip the Shake.
The new “Skip the Shake” silicone wristband is similar to the “LiveStrong” wristband popularized by Lance Armstrong, an American professional road racing cyclist. The wristband is a bright light blue and comes in Adult (8″ circumference) and Youth (7″ circumference) sizes.
The wristband helps its wearers communicate to those who might want to shake their hand that they would rather greet them in some other way. This subtle yet effective communication reduces that awkwardness of an unreciprocated handshake. By helping the user to stop shaking hands and, thus, reducing the frequency of germ transmission, the “Stop the Shake” wristband may decrease the incidents of communicable diseases such as colds and flu.
The “Skip the Shake” wristband is sold in packages of 10, 100, and 1000 on the website www.skiptheshake.com and is available immediately.
